More About Our Church

Notes from the desk of Pastor Doug:

It Will Be OK

Over the past 40 days, our church, alongside many other churches, has been engaged in “40 Days of Prayer.” Each day we pray for direction for our country, churches, and lives. We prayed and are praying for wisdom and guidance as we cast our vote for the many candidates and issues. We prayed and will continue to pray for the candidates and the issues. As a church, we have never been involved in any type of prayer partnership as this before.

With this said, I believe this election may change the course of our lives forever. The economic stability of our country and its security is uncertain. In our own state of California, the stability of the family will be put to the test with Proposition 8 which will decide what constitutes marriage.

I will go to the polls on Tuesday and vote for morality and not my money. I will vote for marriage between one man and one woman as the only union commanded and acceptable before God. I will vote for leaders who support and value life, whether the life of an unborn child or the life of an aging senior citizen. I am not sure how much my vote will matter, but I will vote. I encourage you to vote as well.

Furthermore, I challenge you to realize that God is in control. Proverbs 8:15-16 states, “By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, All the judges of the earth.” It is still God’s president. It is still God’s leader. It is still God’s mayor and so forth. For those of us who have a personal relationship with Christ, the Bible promises that God has plans for us to “prosper.” This does not mean we will be rich. However, it does mean that God will take care of us. Therefore, no matter if your presidential candidate crashes or the stock market crashes, God is there for you. Be encouraged and trust in Him.
